Heating season is near…BUT before you turn up the heat have your system serviced first!

    • Heath & Safety

When a technician services your heating system, he or she should verify the flow of combustion gasses. The technician will also look for leaking natural gas or oil and check for proper ignition.

    • Efficiency

A well- tuned heating system is more efficient. This is good for the environment and saves you money. A quick adjustment of the fuel mixture in your heating system may make all the difference. Again, this is something only a technician can assess.

    • Keep It Running

A well- maintained heating system will last longer. If you service your furnace yearly, any adverse conditions will only have an opportunity to damage your furnace for, at most, one season. For instance, if you call a technician at the beginning of the winter, he or she may find a problem, such as a condensation leak, in your high efficiency furnace. The condensate from a high efficiency furnace is fairly corrosive and can damage your furnace. If the problem were left for several years, the furnace would fail before its intended life expectancy.

    • Inexpensive Peace of Mind

A yearly service call by a qualified heating technician is not expensive and the job doesn’t take long. If the technician does not find anything wrong, the fee is minimal. If the technician does find something wrong, it is better to know about it now, before the problem gets worse and costs much more.

If you have problems with your heater and need a technician, call My Charlotte Mechanical at (888) 345-9894. We pride ourselves on quality work and delight in customer satisfaction on every level.

The History of Residential Air Conditioning

    Last updated 8 months ago

On hot summer days, many homeowners take their air conditioning systems for granted. But have you ever stopped to wonder how air conditioning was invented and first used? Air conditioning systems have a rather fascinating history and dramatic impact on American society. Take a look at how air conditioning came to be and how it changed over the 20th century.

    • Early Innovations: Air conditioning was developed in the early 1900s by an engineer named Willis Carrier. Carrier was commissioned to create the first device for a printing company that was having trouble producing its magazine due to high humidity in its facility. For the first two decades of its existence, air conditioning was primarily a commercial product designed to increase worker productivity and was not used in residential or public facilities.

    • Advancements: This changed in the early 1920s, when Carrier introduced a smaller version of the air conditioner that would be appropriate for home and business use. In 1928, Carrier produced the Weathermaker, the first air conditioner designed specifically for home use. Window unit air conditioners were introduced first, but were quickly followed up by central air conditioning systems.

    • Today’s Air Conditioners: Over the next 80 years, air conditioning continued to grow in popularity, albeit slowly. Although window units were available for home use, only 10% of homeowners had air conditioning in 1965. As the population of the United States shifted toward warmer Sun Belt cities, the demand for residential air conditioning grew exponentially. By the early 2000s, 86% of homes were fitted with air conditioning systems.

While air conditioning technology has advanced substantially in just the last few years, regular maintenance and repair is still extremely important. That’s why Charlotte-area residents trust air conditioner repair, maintenance, and installation services to My Charlotte Mechanical.
